El Mercado Egido is a colorful fresh food market outside the tourist district in Havana, Cuba. I had wondered inside the market with my camera and was told photos were not permitted, despite not even composing a shot. So I took to the surrounding area and found this gentleman seated outside the market, selling what could only be described as random items or parts of, a dolls arm, lose cables, broken metal tools, an old iron that would require heating on a fire first.
I paused in front of the torn rug that lay on the ground in front of him upon which were laid his sellable goods. He had the most magnificent blue yet faded eyes, a weathered face that paints a story of hardship, he was timid yet pleasant.
